And as much as I'd like Thomas to get a big-money extension and stay in Boston, I can understand moving him if you draft Fultz.
The lottery basically determines the first 14 picks in the draft and includes the teams that did not qualify for the postseason. The other time was 1950 when Boston picked Chuck Share, who never played a game for the team. The Celtics have been chasing after the likes of Kevin Love, Paul George and Jimmy Butler for a couple seasons now, and they have the ammo to make a move. They would have had to trade it to Philadelphia if it fell outside the top three.
The Nets went the opposite way.
And Danny Ainge is enjoying them both. In 2015-16, the Nets lost 61 games and fired King along with coach Lionel Hollins in January.
"It's three or four guys going and one guy coming back", Grousbeck said. "This is what Brooklyn wanted to do, wanted to go all on it, chase a championship". Plus, do they really want to deal with LaVar Ball? "Now it's our turn 4 years later to take some benefits from the trade". In return, Boston received the 2016 and 2018 first round picks. But for all those committed to drafting Fultz, dangling that pick and gauging its value on the trade market should give everyone a pretty good sense as to just how good the kid is.
The 7-foot-2, 275-pound Embiid is a supremely talented center, averaging 20.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.45 blocked shots last season.
The Nuggets have never had a top-two pick in the draft. "When you defend like we did there is a lot you have to improve, and we have to analyze every aspect". It also speaks to how well Los Angeles has drafted when it does land in the lottery. The Lakers were more likely to lose the pick than keep it, but as luck would have it, LA moved up from the no. 3 spot to the no. 2 position. It did not take long for a slew of mock drafts to come out and set the narratives for the next month in the run to the NBA Draft on June 22.
While three of the All-Time top franchises are seeing a rebirth of sorts, one member of that spectrum continues to slide.
The Celtics won the lottery Tuesday night to continue another unbelievable basketball springtime in Boston, capitalizing on a trade they made with the Brooklyn Nets four years ago.
"That's all we working out for is the Lakers", LaVar said.
Phoenix will get the fourth overall pick in its eighth straight lottery appearance.
In all fairness, however, I can not explain why the New York Knicks dropped to eight overall behind the Minnesota Timberwolves despite being tied in odds. Whether it's Portland's Damian Lillard, New Orleans' DeMarcus Cousins, or (cough, cough) Russell Westbrook, the Celtics should remain open to bringing in another star. The Kings also have the No. 10 pick from the Pelicans as a result of the February trade involving all-star DeMarcus Cousins.
