This phone features the innovative cable link which connects the television to the users. Although the phone has been announced as a "free of cost" device, customers will have to pay Rs 1,500 as security deposit for the device, which the company claims to refund after three years.
JioPhone will be available for booking starting Aug 24, and for testing from Aug 15. Like before, the Voice calls will be free for JioPhone and so will be the SMS'es. For streaming content from JioPhone, the customers have to opt for Rs. 309 plan instead of Rs. 153 basic monthly plan. He also added that Jio services will be integrated with all e-commerce players across the country.
The phone also has extensive support for audio commands. The phone will be "effectively" free although the consumer will have to deposit Rs 1500 which will be refundable after three years. "We are targeting to provide five million phones per week".
The Reliance JioPhone comes preloaded with a digital voice assistant, and there's a dedicated hardware button to access the voice assistant. While it is not confirmed, the JioPhone is also expected to come with support for Bluetooth. The mobile phone will be available for pre-book from next month. Of course, it's not quite as simple as that either - you will have to make an upfront payment of Rs. 1,500 in order to get your hands on the Jio phone.
