Owaisi even requested the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government to not see Rohingyas as Muslims, but to consider them are refugees. "After the formation of Bangladesh, the Chakmas came to India, and got the status of refugees", he said.

The Supreme Court has fixed 18 Sep as the date for the hearing of the plea and the Home Minister said it will file the affidavit on 18 Sep.
Since October 2016, Myanmar's government has laid a siege to the western state of Rakhine, where the Rohingya Muslims are concentrated.
He added that Myanmar was "transporting rations for displaced people for emergency assistance" to areas close to the border and that Bangladesh "needs to understand that as well".

Most of the refugees are located in or near Cox's Bazar, located 150 km south of the industrial port Chittagong.
Bangladesh stopped designating new refugees in the early 1990s, forcing hundreds of thousands to fend for themselves by cobbling together bits of tarpaulin and bamboo to build makeshift homes.
