The other main event match between John Cena and Roman Reigns did not provide disappointment, but instead offered up WWE's latest "passing of the torch" moment as Cena was defeated cleanly, before raising Reigns' hand to show he is now ready to take on his role.
Elias started off quick by taking Crews down twice out of a lockup and then applying a headlock. He won with the Drift Away. We had missed what happened to Cesaro until they showed the replay. The back and forth action in this match was simply brilliant to watch and had the fans on the edge of their seats throughout, with all four men displaying excellent in-ring chemistry.
Jason Jordan had a solid showing against The Miz, something that theoretically would go toward establishing him on his own since he departed from the tag team scene on Smackdown. Miz goes outside to regroup but Jordan kicks Miz through the ropes, grabs Bo Dallas and suplexes Dallas onto Miz and Curtis Axel.
Things would get heated enough for the Miz to scamper away but not before Kurt Angle came out to book a match between the two men. They were booing the quality of the match. Although, it doesn't seem like the WWE Universe will turn on Braun anytime soon. Goldust approaches Balor in the backstage area and says that he does not want to be seen as the victim and he didn't want Balor's help with Wyatt a couple weeks ago. Balor's mic skills aren't fantastic and one of the only things that he has in his arsenal as a character is that "Demon King" gimmick. I heard that some people thought the crowd at one point chanted this is awesome during the match, but where I was at they were actually chanting "Miz is awesome".
This isn't the first time "lost teeth" and Cesaro have been in the same sentence, though. The referee put on latex gloves and checked on him but he continued with the match.
Sheamus suffered Rollins' Ripcord Knee, followed by Ambrose's Dirty Deeds; leading to Sheamus being pinned.
Going into No Mercy, many fans noted that the card seemed Wrestlemania-worthy. In July at WWE Payback, Cesaro and Sheamus teamed up to take on the Hardy Boyz.
With Asuka debuting at TLC, it will be interesting to see if the woman who dominated the NXT women's division goes straight for the title, or whether she goes through someone else, like maybe Emma to start with. He popped right back up after a German suplex to hit Lesnar with a chokeslam and then the running Powerslam. But hey, what do they know?
While we know Reigns' capabilities, the methodical pace was disappointing to see, especially if you consider this might have been the biggest match of his career. The two put on a great match. My man Roman Reigns gave it to him!
Overall, it was a fun night but I think the ending of Cena vs. Reigns deflated the night. To kick off the night, former Shield member - and recent conqueror of John Cena - Roman Reigns sat down with The Miz for a contentious Miz TV interview segment. If everything is as it appears, Neville could have very well cost himself any future shot at the championship he so longs for, but it is more likely Enzo and Neville are far from over. The WWE has faith in Braun and his abilities as he is now competing for the Universal title one-on-one with The Beast.
Ultimately Neville delivered a spin kick on Enzo and tossed him out of the ring.
