If this project earns enough attention, perhaps we will see more Stranger Things video games release, maybe even for consoles instead of mobile platforms. The combination of 80s nostalgia with creepy vibes and Spielbergian childhood wonder catapulted the show into the forefront of the American lexicon. Like most video games based off of existing movies and TV shows, it takes some liberties with the plot but is roughly based on the events of the first season.
The game includes familiar surroundings, such as Mirkwood Forest, Hawkins Lab, Jim Hopper's home, and the Upside Down. This comes in handy for solving puzzles but also shows a great attention to detail thanks to how fitting each character's skill is.
It looks absolutely wonderful.
The game, which is available as a free download on both Android and iOS, looks like a long-lost SNES classic. Either that, or you can wait until October 27, when Stranger Things season two premieres on Netflix.
The game offers 10 hours of gameplay, according to TouchArcade. Lucas for example will be equipped with his Wrist-Rocket slingshot, while Nancy will have different kinds of baseball bats at her disposal. Who knows what secret characters or exclusive, never-before-seen-footage- of-Season-2 they might unlock ... You'll cruise through the introductory bits before the difficulty level moves up a notch and you need to be more on your toes (or fingertips).
Unlike so many "free" mobile games, Stranger Things doesn't demand that you spend real money on microtransactions to get the most out of it.
Winona Ryder still can't believe the reaction to "Stranger Things", including fans dressing up as her character Joyce Byers. Also, players' Speed Run times will be recorded and shareable on social media, so you can compete with your friends.
