Sunday, 1 p.m. ET, Heinz Field.
The Jaguars' defense cemented itself as a top group in Jacksonville's 30-9 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers Sunday. The Jags went on the road to Pittsburgh and shellacked the Steelers in a game that suddenly makes us all question the legitimacy of Mike Tomlin's squad. They would have beaten Jacksonville with that. The run defense was lacking coming into this game, and Jacksonville cleaned it up in a major way. A fourth-round pick by the Giants in 2013 out of Syracuse, Nassib played five games for Coughlin, completing nine of 10 passes for 28 yards and a touchdown. Unfoutunately, they suffer from the inconsistencies that plague most young teams. Have thoughts on how the Steelers and Jaguars are performing? They drafted running back Leonard Fournette in the first round this year, hoping to take pressure off quarterback Blake Bortles. Sixty-seven yards. More than eight minutes. Bell accounted for 186 yards from scrimmage in the Steelers' win in Baltimore. It was an embarrassing outing for the Steelers and the run just kind of elevated the "downer alert" for Heinz Field.
There's plenty of hype surrounding this week's Monday night tilt between the Vikings and the host Bears, with Chicago finally starting No. 2 pick Mitchell Trubisky at quarterback. Brown is second in the league in targets, receptions, and yards. In six career games against the Jaguars prior to Sunday, he had thrown ten touchdowns and just three interceptions.
Every team loves to play at home, but few love it more than the Pittsburgh Steelers. Watt and Ryan Shazier, there those opportunities will be limited.
Bell was patient while scanning for running lanes and explosive when he found them.
Pittsburgh punted and the Jaguars took over at the Steelers' 48 with 1:06 left in the half.
JW: In looking at the past, historically these two teams play each other close. Fournette has been the workhorse the Jaguars envisioned, but remain mostly one dimensional on offense.
Fournette joined Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor as the only tailbacks in Jaguars history to score a touchdown in five straight games.
PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: Jaguars DE Dante Fowler.
Jacksonville fell to 2-2 on the season with a 23-20 OT loss to the Jets last week.
And it started early-as in their first possession of the game. Gilbert is the only player listed on the team's official Week 5 injury report on Friday with a doubtful designation. His first game this season was the Pittsburgh Steelers vs Baltimore Ravens which the Steelers won 26-9. Fowler continues to get better each outing but still has occasional lapses where he plays out of control. DE Calais Campbell is tied for second in the National Football League with 5.5 sacks.
Fournette is now tied for seventh in the league in rushing with 285 yards on 81 carries with three rushing touchdowns. In his past 12 home games, he has 110 catches (9.2 per game) for 1,383 yards (115.3 per game) and 12 TDs. He averaged an insane 21.1 yards per catch, and he owned the longest catch (94 yards) in the league.
