1 Billion Milestone for Nook Apps
Seems like Nook is the next hot Android tablet, it’s been a week since apps for Barnes & Noble’s Nook has hit the market, and already they have reported that 1 million apps are downloaded on Nooks. The top 5 paid apps were Angry Birds, drawing Pad, Solitaire, Aces, jewl Hunt and Astraware completed the top 5 list. Among free apps Fliq Calender and Fliq Notes became the most downloaded.
Last month Barnes & Noble released an update which brought Flash support to its $250, 7 inch, Android 2.2 based e-reader. That update was completely free and also offered 125 apps, free and paid, to its users. These apps range from $2.99 to $5.99.
Previously Nook was marketed as “reader’s tablet“, since that was the main target market, but with the recent update company is self proclaiming it “best value of any tablet on the market” as it now provides full functionality, comparable to any other market leading tablet.
Though 1 billion is a huge milestone, considering 1 week of availability, but Apple has achieved 10 billion apps already, considering the achievement of market leader, Barnes & Noble has no time for rest.
